This pop-up shop accompanies the mixed-media installation Same Team (2018) by artist Dimitry Saïd Chamy on view at FIU's Miami Beach Urban Studios gallery from September 20th to November 16th, 2018 as part of the exhibition Return to Sender: Corresponding to the Caribbean. The work is a direct response to a 1905 postcard from Port-au-Prince, the artist's hometown, shared by the show's curator, Jacek Kolasiński. A flood of childhood memories from navigating sexuality to playing team sports to accompanying his dad on construction sites mix with later memories and the politics of holding hands then, now, and across gender and cultural divisions.
